As we mentioned in earlier news our goals have been improvements concerning the stability and useability of MediaPortal and the TV-Server. One big useability improvement is the introduction of an update feature. For the first time you will be able to update an existing MediaPortal 1.0 installation to 1.0.1 without loosing any user settings. The results have proven to be very useful for e.g. the redesign of our default skin Blue3. With MediaPortal 2 progressing nicely, and planning changes for the MediaPortal 1.0.2 patch, we would like to gather some more information from our users to steer both in the right direction. Due to great improvements concerning stability and zapping speed we recently decided to include the latest changes from Ambass in the 1.0.1 release. To polish these changes we decided to push back the release date for MediaPortal 1.0.1 a bit.     User comments (23) Quote this article in website   MPTagThat - The MediaPortal Tag Editor Written by Helmut Wahrmann, on 26-02-2009 I've used many years various Tag editors to maintain music files, so that they are treated correctly inside MediaPortal. I found myself using two different Tag Editors, because not every Tag Editor was supporting all the features I needed. My main Tag Editor was ID3-Tagit . It worked prefectly for my needs, with two drawbacks. Only mp3 files are supported and it doesn't support scripting to enhance functionality. Moreover the author has decided to discontinue development. For editing file formats other than mp3, i was using The Godfather , but the development seems to be stalled there as well. The Music Importer of MediaPortal makes use of Taglib# a library, which can read and write tags of the most common file formats. So there is already something available which does great parts of the job to be done. In spring 2008 i needed to burn an Audio CD out of my mp3 compilation and all my usual tools failed for some reason to create a correct CD. At this time I was looking at the Encoding capabilities of the BASS library, if it would be useful to be used inside MediaPortal. This was what motivated me to start my own Tool, which allows Tag Editing, Organising Files, Audio Playback, Burning, Ripping and Conversion. MPTagThat - The Mediaportal TagEditor was born. But we did not rest since the release of it. As you can see in our changelogs and roadmaps (see "Status Overview" on the right side of the homepage), we have already fixed a lot of issues and did some useability improvements. MediaPortal 1.0.1 This will be a maintenance release fixing issues with the 1.0 version and providing some useability enhancements. We are currently also looking into the possibility of creating a "Patch" which will update your 1.0 installation to 1.0.1, without losing any config setting. But please be aware, that because of the changes, it might be required that you update all of your community plugins and skins to a 1.0.1 version. Read the full article...
